When things are going my way, I am excited and passionate about participating in the delightful life God has created for me. When I am struggling, I am churning and burning out in my mind trying to figure out how to get out of the uncomfortable situation. Either way, I am distracted from my anchor. I am not thinking about God or the ways of God or surrendering my everything to my Savior. It's how the enemy takes me off the beam, takes me out of the River (see my River of Life post). This is where I need to focus... keep my eyes on God and take 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 to heart: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks is all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus". Oh, the irony of that passage being on the wall in front of me as I type this. I love how God spoon feeds us what we need without us even knowing it.
